Create A Life You Don't Need To Escape From
Mind Mastery Minutes - V1.16

I heard 10 words on a podcast…
And I haven’t been the same since.

Seth Godin
These words got me thinking…
We’ve all heard the following:
“I really need a holiday…”
“Thank God it’s Friday.”
“I’m just trying to get through the week.”
The working cycle for a lot of people seems to be the same.
Get through the week by living for the weekend.
But does it need to be this way?
Instead of wondering when our next vacation is, we should set up a life we don't need to escape from.”
Escapism is mental diversion from unpleasant aspects of daily life.
I wanted to know how many people actually enjoy their jobs.
So I did some digging…
And the results were pretty shocking:
Up to 85% of people dislike their jobs. (Gallup survey)
This is pretty concerning.
Especially considering most of us are on track to spend 80,000 hours working.
The sad reality is that a huge amount of people spend a huge amount of time doing things that they don’t even want to do.
It makes no sense to me.
Now.
You need to see this:

If we’re not careful, we all run the risk of falling into this routine…
Waking up every day
Feeling unable to change the situation
Turning to easy escapes to mask our feelings
Why would anyone put up with this?
Maybe Money?
Money often hooks us in.
Salaries can pacify our ambition and dreams.
We can justify doing something boring and unfulfilling if it pays well.
“The three most harmful addictions are heroin, carbohydrates, and a monthly salary.”
But even so…
It’s like trading 5 days of pain for 2 days of freedom.
Again and again and again.
Trapping us doing things we don’t want to do for the rest of our lives.
I don’t want that for myself.
And I’m sure you don’t either.
I think the bottom line is that most people are stuck in their ways.
Escaping your reality is much, much easier than creating a better one.
So let’s examine how can you and I can create a life we don’t need to escape from…

For me, it’s all about achieving for financial and geographic freedom.
Here are some ways to do just that:
Entrepreneurship - Owning part or all of a profitable business is a sure way to achieve financial freedom and live the life you want.
Freelance your Skills - If you have skills or interests, share them. Try coaching or making content around them.
Create Digital Products / Content - often free to make and very low costs of distribution unlike physical products.
Pursue a Passion - “Do what you love and you’ll love what you do.” If you can turn a passion into a career, you probably be fulfilled in your daily work.
Earn lots of money - If you can earn a lot of money very quickly, you can retire earn and live off stable investment returns.
Escapism isn’t bad in itself. What is important is what you’re escaping from and where you’re escaping too.
Those who do not move may never notice their chains.
